I just have to point out the enormous irony in your using my photograph without credit (in violation of the Attribution-Share Alike 2.0 under which I've released it) in a blog entry about crowd sourcing content and credibility. We the crowd are generally happy to be sourced to, provided that we receive the simple gesture of credit in exchange for giving up our time and some rights.

Yes, if you’re an academic or museum curator then you’d probably spot errors in some of the detail, but let’s not forget who the normal user is here – if you want to know general stuff, Wikipedia is an outstanding source of information

A slight aside.

In fact with our online collection we’re constantly being reminded that the ‘normal user’ iss spotting and corrcting errors in some of the detail of our content!
