Here’s something I knocked up a while ago. Very simple (and yes, pretty useless too) but uses a bunch of different API’s to “imagify” any RSS feed of your choice.

Basically it takes the RSS feed (as specified by ?rss=****), extracts the text, passes this to Yahoo’s term extraction API (fabulously useful..), gets some keywords back again, passes these to the Flickr API, then displays thumbnailed pictures. Phew. Some of the pics are relevant, some are kind of weird. But I like that..

I took this a step further by using the NMSI’s Ingenious website as the source for images. Now you get museumy pictures for news stories…Just add ?imageprovider=ingenious to the URL. It’s much slower, so be patient..
